Amazon is discontinuing most of its Nova AI models to focus on developing a single, more competitive foundation model under its new Frontier Model Research initiative led by Pieter Abbeel. This shift follows closures and layoffs in its AI divisions and aims to concentrate resources on fewer, larger projects. Some Nova products will remain supported, but the company is prioritizing infrastructure and its AWS cloud services as its core strengths in AI.
