Microsoft, Amazon, and Google's carbon emissions rose nearly 20% in the past year, reaching 119 million metric tons CO₂ equivalent, driven mainly by datacentre expansion for AI and cloud services. Their combined emissions now equal about a third of France's total, highlighting the environmental impact of growing AI infrastructure.
