Europe’s New AI Rules Come Into Force

The EU's Artificial Intelligence Act, effective from August 2, 2026, introduces transparency and safety rules for AI systems, including chatbot disclosures and deepfake labeling. It also imposes requirements on general-purpose AI providers to mitigate systemic risks and mandates training data transparency. Stricter rules for high-risk AI applications will be enforced starting December 2027.
