Google Research Introduces ME-POIs: A Mobility-Informed Framework that Adds “How a Place Is Used” to Text-Based POI Embeddings

Google Research and USC developed ME-POIs, a framework integrating human mobility data into text-based place embeddings to capture how places are used. Tested on Los Angeles and Houston data, ME-POIs improved performance on map-related tasks, especially visit intent and busyness prediction. The model requires visit logs and POI polygons, with no public code or weights yet.
