Microsoft is laying off approximately 4,800 employees, about 2.1% of its workforce, mainly from its commercial sales and Xbox divisions. The company cites industry changes and AI's impact on work processes but states the cuts are not due to AI replacing roles. Xbox plans to cut around 20% of its jobs and is selling several studios to reset its business.
