One of NASA's Mars rovers could find itself promised to the moon instead

NASA plans to repurpose Perseverance's engineering test rover, combined with Curiosity's test model, into a new hybrid rover named PROMISE for exploration of the lunar south pole. This rover will be capable of operating in all illumination conditions to aid future moon missions.
