Open letters about AI development

Microsoft led an open letter signed by 235 AI-related companies advocating for open-weight AI models to enhance safety and innovation, opposing government restrictions. Anthropic responded with concerns about risks from authoritarian misuse and called for limits on large-scale distillation. A separate letter, Pacing the Frontier, gathered support from over 1,300 AI company employees.
