Pentagon launches campaign for unmanned boats able to launch drones at sea

The Pentagon has launched a $100 million competition to develop autonomous unmanned surface vessels capable of launching small attack drones at sea, with potential $200 million procurement contracts. The multi-phase contest includes three testing sprints from fall 2026 to summer 2027, evaluating operational readiness and payload capacity for maritime defense applications.
