Zhipu, a Beijing-based company, confirmed that its GLM series iteration, Ox Alpha, is the free model that topped OpenRouter's usage charts last weekend, doubling the previous leader DeepSeek. The model was initially released anonymously, with researchers identifying it through behavioral analysis before the company acknowledged ownership. Ox Alpha includes internal instructions to withhold its provenance, reflecting a deliberate design choice.
