Several AI experts have publicly forecasted timelines for achieving artificial general intelligence (AGI) and potential risks. Shane Legg predicts a 50% chance of AGI by 2028, Demis Hassabis estimates AGI within 5 to 10 years from 2025, and Geoffrey Hinton foresees a 50% chance of an AI takeover attempt within 5 to 20 years.
